Bill Lueck
owner and driver of Lueck Racing has been involved in motorsports
all of his life. It all started with go-carts and mini bikes at
the age of 12, then on to dune buggies, then drag racing his
1966 big block Fairlane in 1966, then a 1967, 427
Corvette, and then a 1969 ,428 Ford Torino at the Oswego
drag strip. Bill continued to race into his eary twenties. After
getting married, and motorcycles being a little cheaper way to go fast,
Bill started building and racing motorcyles for ten years. After
the motorycle phase was over, Bill got into airplanes. Not just any
airplanes, but war birds. Bill is a qualified formation pilot and
carries a limited commercial pilot license allowing him to
perform in air shows. Bill flew with the Lima Lima flight team for
several years.
1996 brought Bill
back into drag racing with the purchase of a 1966 Ford
AC Cobra replica with a 460 cubic inch Ford. It was a great street
car, but 12:90's just wasn't fast enough. At the end of the
season in 1996, the car was torn down in late October. It
was 4-linked, coiled over and a six point cage was put in.
The 460 was replaced with a 499 cubic inch Ford and a reverse
pattern C-6 was installed. Bill with the help of his
friends, family, and contacts in the racing industry was able to get
the Cobra back together in January of 1997 and took second place
in World Of Wheels, then later on in spring the first pass out the
car went 10:97 @ 128 mph. The rest is history. Today
the Cobra now sports a 588 cubic inch Ford with a Lenco on a
convertor and runs 8:70 @ 158 mph.
After developing many good relationships over the years, Bill
decided it was time to really get serious and Lueck Racing Inc. was
formed. Along with that came the purchase of a Tim
McAmis Pro Mod Corvette less engine and transmission.
Currently the car sports a 499 cubic inch Chrysler Hemi engine with
BAE-5 heads and a Lenco drive.
Bill and his dedicated race team have decided to focus their racing
efforts in 2010 to Pro Mod, Top Sportsman and possibly some exhibition
as well. At speeds of over 218 mph. in the 6 second bracket,
this year is going to be great.
